Life In The Big Apple

9/29/2007 12:19:00 AM Well who would have thought that my first visit to a doctor here will be at an emergency room in a hospital... I was going preparing to cook rice for dinner when I decided to add some chinese sausages in it. Well while cutting the sausages, I accidentally cut off a chunk of my fingertip. So there I was shouting in pain (not screaming like a little girl) while I ran my finger under the tap water to try and clean it. There was a lot of blood coming out and that chunk which came off? Its still on the blade... Anyway, I ran downstairs to get some help. I had a paper towel pressed on it to try and stop the bleeding. Didn't really work. It wasn't long before it was covered in blood. Downstairs with the help of uncle Peter and Edward, they applied a cover sponge around it before Edward, Alvin and I walked to the New York Hospital Queens with my finger in a small container of ice.

Ok before I continue, I didn't chop off a whole part of my finger including the bone. Just a chunk of skin and flesh near the tip (going to have a new fingerprint...) So anyway, at the emergency room they told me that the piece of skin and flesh that I brought along can't be reattached so they'll have to throw it away. They'll stop the bleeding and then let the skin regrow. But now I'll have a deformed finger... He had to squirt saline directly onto the wound and it hurt like 10 times more than when i cut my finger. But it was still bleeding quite a lot so he put a band around it to stop the blood from flowing into my finger and then he squirted the saline onto it AGAIN!! Sigh... and everything was going so well... I banked in my check and even gotten Merie's present... Now I have to live the rest of my life like this. Plus doing everything one handed is annoying and slow.
