Life In The Big Apple

9/18/2007 11:20:00 PM It was that time of the year again. A time to remember the souls lost on September 11th 2001 at the site of the former World Trade Center now known as Ground Zero. Almost 5000 lives were lost that day. And it seems the weather suited the mood of the day. It was cold, overcast and raining the whole day. For me, its the first time being in the states since that tragic day. I wanted to go down to Ground Zero and lay a bouquet of flowers there but I had work so I couldn't go. I did manage to catch a little of the live telecast of the names of those who lost their lives being read at Ground Zero. A bell was rung at the exact time each tower was hit and collapsed followed by a minute of silence. I left for work at the same time the South Tower collapsed. This however will be the last memorial service that will be held until everything is completed. Or at least... until the memorial park is completed.

I've been working for 9 days already at Burger King. The pay might not be the highest I admit.. (only $7.50 an hour) but I like working there. Its quite fun. Especially all the other employees. I'm close to a few of them. Namely Peter, Celia, Leidy, Nicole, Jessie and Jenny. Yea.. there were lots of times where I was the only guy working that shift or maybe 1 out of 2 or 3 guys out of maybe 8. I'll get some pictures of the place and my friends if I have time.

And today, I made the easiest $200 in my life by just sitting around reading a book, writing very little, playing chess, eating and drinking for 16 hours and 30 minutes at the polling station as an "Inspector" in my whole district I only had like 14 Republican voters. And you know what? Only 2 people came and voted. So yea... Dun care. As long as I get my money.
