Life In The Big Apple

This landscape picture was drawn based on the sunset that I saw at Kuala Selangor before I left Malaysia. This picture was drawn based on the picture I took during my last day in high school. I didn't have charcoal back then so I couldn't shade it darker. 1 point vanishing point. Yes the spelling for "Restaurant" is wrong in either English or Malay. Its like a cross between the languages and the format of the name is Malaysian. Example : Restoran Gourmet Terrace or Restoran Maideen. I sat at the end of the restaurant while I drew this and used the vanishing point principal in helping me draw this picture. There is a mirror on the left side wall so I had to mirror the objects on the right as well. P.S. I didn't use a ruler. Yea well, this view never happened. I drew the car first and then sat in front of the school to draw the building using 3 vanishing points. One each on the left, right and the top. The Porche Carrera S is the first car that I could ever draw. This drawing is my first try. I later decided to draw the girl there as well after I completed the drawing of the car. I'm not sure how many people here in the States have heard of Formula 1 since it doesn't seem to be as popular here as it is in Europe. This is a drawing of the Ferrari F2001 car model that I have and the 7 time F1 World Champion, Michael Shumacher. This is a deformed drawing of my Physics and Chemistry tuition teacher back when I was in high school. I gave the original one to him as a gift after I scanned it. Just a random picture that I drew when I was changing the way I drew when I was changing my drawings from Japanese anime to more life like drawings. Li-Shia was my choir's conductress in high school during 2005 and 2006. She likes being very... bubbly. Pei Wern, Yi Peng, Su Yeng and Rachel are some of my oldest friends in Malaysia. We used to go to the same elementary school before and kept in touch long after we went to seperate high schools. The RoseA drawing of a rose that my mom got for Mother's Day which hasn't fully bloomed yet. It reminded me of the song, "The Rose", which I decided to write down in the background. Resource Centre Games 2007 logo.I was asked by the Audio Visual Board of my old high school, Victoria Institution, to help design the logo for the 2007 inter-school Resource Centre Games. I gave them this in the end. The shades of blue represent Victoria Institution as the host school because VI's colors are light and dark blue. The hexagons in the backround represents the patches of a soccer ball and the outdoor sports held during the event. The squares completing the letter R represents a chess board and the indoor games. The roman numerals XXIX tells us that this is the 29th Resource Centre Games being held. So there you go folks. My 20 pieces in my portfolio that I'll be sending over to the SVA on the 31st of July. Please leave some comments ok!! Saturday, July 28, 2007 College Application, Harry Potter
I've also finished reading Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows. By far the best book among the 7 Harry Potter books. I won't go into detail about the book. Don't wanna spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet. My portfolio is almost complete. I've already got 15 works done. I just need 5 more. It turns out that I can actually email my portfolio so I've taken the best of my older works and added it inside. Monday, July 23, 2007 US Military!?

The Egret Su Yeng Swirly Bamboo Cyndy Restorant Malaysia Inc. (Incomplete) Yeah so there are... (starts counting) 7 pieces in my portfolio already. I still need 13 more. Really running out of ideas on what to draw... I've finally gotten someone to translate my transcripts for me. All I need to do now is to write an essay in 500 words or less, about why I'm applying to study in the School of Visual Arts and I don't have any idea what to write. Damn... my brain has been on holiday for too long. Well while we're at it, here are some of the other drawings that I drew and scanned into the computer. Some of which I gave to the person in the drawing. Abbie Wong May Ying The Rose lyrics Thursday, July 19, 2007 New Additions to my portfolio!!!
Yea I know this drawing is a little cacated..But the only thing I can fix was the arm. It was too thin so I made it thicker in the original drawing. Tuesday, July 17, 2007 Portfolio!!!

Oh wait, I also answered all the questions in the Starbucks Coffee Application for Employment with the help of Greg my new... Cousin-in-law I guess. =P So tomorrow I'll be going over to Starbucks on Main St. and hope that I get the job. Its probably going to be around 8 to 9 US Dollars per hour. In the past, immigrants to the United States were greeted by the statue herself after spending usually weeks at sea. The crowds cheered when they saw her. Knowing that they have arrived at the country of opportunity where they can live a better life. The statue itself (not including the supports) is made out of copper 3/32 of an inch thick. As copper comes into contact with the oxygen in the atmosphere, it produces a green outer layer that protects the copper itself. It took around 30 years for the Statue of Liberty to achieve the green color that we see today. After we left, we walked to a small cafe on Broadway near Ground Zero. It served kosher Italian/Sandwiches/Salads. Once we were done there, we split up into three groups. Alvin went and looked for the I (Heart) New York shirts, Chester and Melissa went to Borders and I took three different subway lines from Ground Zero to the SVA. Seriously I feel damn pissed off that the Malaysian Ministry of Education doesn't bother to have any transcripts in English. They should have made the transcripts in 2 languages. English and Malay. Its soo screwed up that they only do it in Malay. Sure, a majority of students will stay put in Malaysia. But what about all the others who had the chance to go overseas??? Malaysia is the only freaking country in this world that uses that language! I can't even find a freaking translator to translate my stuff. AND IT AIN'T CHEAP HISHAMUDDIN!!! U HEAR THAT!? THE MALAYSIAN EDUCATION SYSTEM SUCKS!!!! AND IF U DON'T BELIEVE ME! ASK THE SMART STUDENTS!!!!!!!!!!!!! Now I have to go to the Malaysian Permanent Representative to the United Nations and get help from him/her since the Malaysian Embassy is all the way in Washington D.C. After we separated, Alvin was followed by 2 big sized blacks. They forced him to go buy candy at like 3 bucks per piece and that's daylight robbery! I had to help him finish the candy. At least the money didn't go to waste. Today they had to fly back to San Fransisco. I got up at 8.10am, after all of us got up, Alvin, Melissa and I went over to the Teashop and had our breakfast there. After that, we walked non-stop along Main St. for more than 2km up and downhill to look for a FDNY or NYPD shirt for their sister. Unfortunately, after checking in with a few shops, we found out that the only place we might be able to get it would be in Canal St. in other words, Chinatown. And thats all the way in Manhattan. Turns up that they're not allowed to sell those kind of shirts. We walked over to Kissena Blvd. to get a smoothie and then to Gamestop on Roosevelt Ave. I was really tempted to buy the games there but I couldn't. Was broke from the souvenirs that I bought at Liberty Island 2 days before. So we decided to go to Ben's and Victor's house. It was the last time we'll be together in quite awhile. All 6 of us, Benjamin, Victor, Melissa, Alvin, Chester and I, have been together since we were born. Its finally time for us to part ways. Well, at least with Melissa and Alvin. The rest of us guys are still together. So anyway u 2 (Alvin & Mel), take care of yourself. And Alvin, my dad told me that u could study in New York this year. So don't go waste a year of your life doing nothing there. Good luck k! Hope your parents will come over with you as well. Believe it or not, that road really exists. R2-D2 mailbox The Empire State Building The World War 2 Memorial and Battery Park.(they also have a memorial for the Vietnam War and 9/11) Just a random pic. Miss Liberty![]() Seagull!!![]() The Star Spangled Banner This sculpture has stood at the WTC plaza for over 3 decades, after it was recovered, it was placed in Battery Park as a temporary memorial and an eternal flame was lit on the 1st anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy.
