A lady screams when he moved There was this nice tall ship named the Peking. It used to belong to some trading company in Germany. Much bigger than that Portuguese ship in Malacca.   Pier 17 was something like an Americanized Central Market to me... Well thats what I think. There were a lot of tourists here that day... Famous enough that tourists were taking pictures of it.  President George Washington, the 1st President of the United States  Dunno the name of this church...  I couldn't really see much inside Ground Zero, there was this Star Spangled Banner (thats the name of the American flag, much like Jalur Gemilang being the name of the Malaysian flag) covered with messages from visitors to the site. Expressing their condolences and so on... It was even written on the walls of the construction site... The next day, Memorial Day, my dad, Edric, Chester and I visited the amphibious assault ship, the USS Wasp. the line was like 4 blocks long and we had to line up under the hot sun. No shade was available for us.        A Cobra attack helicopter. I've seen this helicopter while playing Battlefield Vietnam. First time I've seen it in real life. Temperatures now reach 33 degrees celcius OUTSIDE!!! Aircond's not on inside PLUS there are SKYLIGHTS here which makes it feel like a GREENHOUSE in HERE!!!!!!!!!!!!!! The fan looks nice. But you can hardly feel the wind at full speed. This sucks... so hot!!!!!!!!!! Finally got my Interim Learner's Permit fixed... Stupid idiots. Had to go to the Department of Motor Vehicles 3 times this week. Each trip lasted for at least 1 hour and 30 minutes. That means I can drive now... as long as someone 21 years or older with a valid driving license. Congrats to Su Yeng and Kathryn for no longer having the title "single and available" Pirates 3 review
Rating : 2/5 NY1 Channel rating : 1/5 At least "Spider-Man 3" and "Shrek the Third" had worthy predecessors to live up to. "Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest" was a jumbled mess, and "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" only amps up the confusion. Sword fights, cannon barrages and computer-generated mayhem fly at the audience at such a dizzying pace that we aren't supposed to notice the story makes not a lick of sense. Characters change allegiances and strategies so often that it's virtually impossible to tell at any given point who's doing what with whom and why. You know how in the silent movie days, a live piano player would accompany the film? "At World's End" needs a guy with a flowchart and PowerPoint standing next to the screen to try -- probably in vain -- to keep it all straight. Rocky relationship At one point, lovebirds Will Turner (Orlando Bloom) and Elizabeth Swann (Keira Knightley) find themselves on opposite sides of a massive showdown between the British Navy and a global consortium of pirates. A few creaky turns of the plot later, all is forgotten and they're exchanging marital vows (in the middle of the battle, no less). As for flighty, foppish Captain Jack Sparrow (Johnny Depp), he double- and triple-crosses so many people, he serves not so much as a character as a facilitator (enabler?) whenever the storyline needs to take a capricious sharp turn to set up the next big action scene. Look, I realize this isn't Ingmar Bergman here. Big-budget summer movies are supposed to be flashy and fun. These flicks are based on a theme park ride, for Pete's sake. But I do require a semblance of narrative continuity. You can't get from point A to D in the story without at least touching down on B and C. "At World's End" jumps ahead to W, backtracks to H, skips L through P and ignores the fact that Q directly contradicts J. To the rescue When last we left our intrepid heroes, they were being faced with extinction by the rabid pirate-hunting Lord Cutler Beckett (Tom Hollander). Beckett had blackmailed the services of octopus-faced Davy Jones (Bill Nighy) and his crew of invincible crustacean men. And Sparrow had been dragged down to the depths by Jones' pet ship-devouring Kracken. Will, Elizabeth and the back-from-the-dead Captain Barbossa (Geoffrey Rush) resolve to fetch him back, so they must travel to the netherworld of Davy Jones' Locker. To reach it, they enlist the reluctant help of Sao Feng (Chow Yun-Fat), one of the nine pirate lords. (Barbossa and the scraggly Sparrow are both pirate lords, too, so club dues must not be very steep.) Existence in Davy Jones' Locker is actually pretty nice, with blue seas, white sand beaches and no British armada bearing down, raising the question of why the pirates want to go back to the real world. Sparrow has gone even farther off his rocker, if that's possible; he keeps seeing multiples of himself, and bickering with them. Soon everyone is back to reality, though there's still that pesky British fleet. Not to mention Davy Jones -- who was such a fearsome, creepy presence in the last movie, but now comes across as the dyspeptic old man who hollers at the neighborhood kids to keep off his lawn. Even rocker Keith Richards' much-ballyhooed cameo as a pirate relation of Sparrow walks the plank. Curiously, Richards plays it straight, without his trademark slurry, wobbly mannerisms that Depp based his character on. It's like hiring Pee-wee Herman and he goes all King Lear on you. Yes, "Pirates of the Caribbean: At World's End" is visually sumptuous and has some fun spots. But it's a long wade though nearly three hours of nonsensical plot meandering to get to them. It's bad enough that the movie loses its way, and even worse that it doesn't seem to mind.

Cupholders... & a new friend!
So conclusion: Americans are obsessed with cupholders. Recently I made a new friend, Miko. She's Japanese (obviously)... Nice bubbly character too. We haven't met in person yet though... Only online... though I hope we'll meet up someday...  Miko-chan ^^ Sunday, May 20, 2007 First actual post in quite awhile...
hehe... this is going to be my first actual post in awhile... hahaha... Well its cause there really hasn't been much to do recently. Its the same routine everyday: Wake up, online, lunch, online, pick up Edric, online till Chester comes back home, then just laze around the house doing nothing then go online again/play games on the computer, dinner, continue lazing around, computer, sleep. Sooo... yea... been really bored... same freaking routine day after day... Last night though, I had my first game of bowling here... $11.50 a game including shoes which is currently RM39.03 give or take a few cents. The American Dollar has been dropping... Windows Vista has this neat feature where u can view the exchange rate between different currencies. Mine is currently set at US Dollar to Malaysian Ringgit. When I first got my laptop. It was 3.42x Malaysian Ringgit to a US Dollar. At the moment its at 3.394 Ringgit to 1 Dollar. So yes, it still is expensive but that was on a weekend and naturally weekend prices are higher. Scored a 99 on that game... Not bad for ME after 1 month plus since my last game. 2 spares and 2 strikes. Most of the flowers has already withered and died. So, everything's all green now... However... It still looks much more interesting than in the parks in Malaysia. Probably because of the different types of trees and the different types of leaves compared to the common tiny leaf that I used to see in Malaysia. I'm still trying to get used to life here. Gotten used to some stuff already... though I can't really say what I've gotten used to. Weather maybe? Still haven't gotten used to tipping the waiters and restaurants yet... No one does that in Malaysia but its sorta like a must here. So sometimes I leave the pizza parlor and after a few hours I realized that I didn't tip the guy at the counter. darn... I paid a visit to my old house the other day, the landlady still remembers me (after I reminded her of course). We talked for a while then I walked back home. Hmm... I've bet u heard that obesity is becoming a more frequent problem among American kids and teens.. I think I know why. Think of it this way.. How often does one actually buy chips and ice cream in Malaysia like Frito Lay's Ruffles, Haagen Daz/Baskin Robins and so on. Not much since most of these foodstuff/junk food as some people call them, are imported. Well when I first arrived, there was 2 bags of chips in the cabinet, a bottle of ginger ale in the fridge, a block of cheese half the size of an American brick (which is longer than the average malaysian brick). It seems that its easier for them to get junk food here than it is in Malaysia or it could be they just buy it more often than the average Malaysian. I still have to say one thing though. The Sprite here taste better =P. Just so u guys know, I'm doing alright here. Just a tad lonely... (as usual) everyone's been like, "You're 18 and you've NEVER had a girlfriend!?"... swt.... Its damn hot today in New York! 27 degrees Celsius at night!!! HOT!!! Yea well it may be cool for everyone in Malaysia but here after getting used to the cold, it feels damn HOT!!! Anyway, I received my stuff from Malaysia already. As in the ones that we shipped over. So my migration is now complete. Now to get a job, save enough cash and then go on a holiday to Malaysia =P.  Yea... and that was just one part of the building. We finally arrived at the Times Square station and bought our tickets at the AMCinema. Tickets costs $11.00 per person which is like RM37.62.After that we decided to have lunch at the cheapest restaurant we could find in Times Square. McD. Hahaha!! I took a few videos and pics on the while walking there.  Yes, I bet some of u guys want me to take u here if u do come and visit. =P Oh yea, there was 2 men standing on the streets in their underwear. For some reason that i couldn't think of. There were lots of hot dog and pretzel stands, Anti-bush and anti-iraq war protestants on the street... and so on. Mini NYC in McD Well after the movie (I'm not saying anything about it so that I won't spoil it for some), we thought of going bowling but it was soo damn expensive. $9.50 per game plus $5 for the shoes. Which is like almost RM50 per game and shoes!!!! GYAAH!!! In the end we decided to walk like 20 blocks to Central Park. =P    Oh yes. A thing which guys need to know when in NYC. When U're on the subway with your friends. Don't sit next to each other. Leave a seat vacant in between you. (Plz refer to the picture below). Cause if you sit next to each other. People will think you're gay.  Victor sleeping on the train. =P He thought he deleted the video. But he only deleted the one in the card memory. He didn't know that I copied it into the phone memory as well. =P

I've met all of them (except Jamie of course) at Kismet Manga. Its something like a bubble tea / instant noodle shop cum manga bookstore cum manga library cum anime merchandise cum graphic novels store. Hahaha... Yea its a cool lil shop. Manga here is cheaper than the ones in Malaysia of course... I should take some pics of that place. Quite a nice place to hang out they even got bean bag chairs there =P Going to watch Spiderman with Victor and his friends tomorrow. Oh yes! Before I forget, here's my house address.
